COCKROACHES:
Cockroaches have been present on earth for more than 400 million years.
Cockroaches can hold its breath for up to 40 minutes. American Cockroaches
can run up to three miles an hour.
TERMITES:
More than 600,000 homes in the U.S. suffer termite damage totaling over
$5 billion a year, compared to $2 billion spent due to fire damage.
BEES:
BEWARE!!! Yellow Jackets can be a dangerous pest. According to the media,
500,000 people go to the emergency room every year due to stinging insects.
MICE (RODENTS):
The House Mouse is the most common where humans live and work. A House
Mouse can breed when it is 35 days old and can have its first litter (of approximately
eight pups) by the time its 60 days old. Their are several diseases rodents can cause:
Weils disease and Salmonella poisoning
Murine Typhus Fever (transmitted via fleas)
Favus (skin disease passed on the pets and then to humans)
Rat-Bite Fever (direct bite from rat)
ANTS:
Ants are everywhere, eat almost anything, and have few natural predators. In
most cases, ants are merely a nuisance, but some species can contaminate food,
destroy seeds, damage plants, and even attack and injure animals (including humans).
Carpenter Ants can sometimes do more damage to your home than the dreaded termite.
